Ximius has achieved and received the ISO 27001, NEN7510 and ISO 9001 from DigiTrust. With this certification, they demonstrate that information security within the organisation is in perfect order. A proof of delivering quality, but also as a competent and reliable partner for customers. Owner Robert Quanjel looks back on achieving the certificate and the pleasant cooperation with DigiTrust.

What prompted the certification?

"It's always 2 sided. Point 1 is because we are a start-up company. We are 3 years into this market and certification does put you seriously in the market. It is also very important for the marketing side. Point 2 is the strict requirement from our customer, because we work with a lot of healthcare institutions. You see they generally look at whether the supplier handles data well. Regardless of whether it is needed in the journey or not, they do look at it. Nowadays, it is also very nice to say that we do it but that we can also demonstrate that it has been tested with certifications. Point 3 is motivation. While you are still relatively small, it is more convenient to shift gears and make sure you do those things right now. This is also going to help us grow the business."

Why did you choose DigiTrust?

"We got certified there because I was already familiar with it. My previous company recommended it at the beginning of our journey. DigiTrust are known in the market as the strict and authoritarian auditor. I actually like the fact that they are critical. I prefer someone who can say to me that adjustments are still needed. So I really wanted a deep review of how we are doing as a company."

How did you experience the trajectory as a whole?

"I found it intensive. I found the 5 days very much for the certification but that may also be because we were going to do 3 at the same time and there is some overlap here. For the size of the company, I think we had plenty of time anyway. Normally it is always a sample but because we had the time we were able to go beyond that. We do have a more complete picture now where there were still some things."

Were you looking up to something?

"We tried very hard so we weren't really looking forward to it. There was healthy tension. Not every day lasted as long, but when it was time to go home you did try to get home as quickly as possible. It's still an exam you can't do anything about, it's always exciting. It is important for the organisation to pass it though."

Did things turn out differently than expected?

"No, it was pretty well communicated. I have already done this certification within another company so I knew what they were going to look for."

Was it nice how the auditor communicated?

"Jos was a fine auditor. He did not give advice because he is not allowed to do that but he did indicate in his answer why he looked at certain points differently and which direction it should go. He was always honest about things, so all in all a very pleasant auditor."

Would you recommend DigiTrust to other companies?

"Yes indeed, at the end of the day it is all about the assessment of a company so I do believe that they have looked very positively and critically at how we are doing as a company and that there is a certificate that they, as well as I, support. So in that respect, I would very much recommend them."
